HMB (beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate) is a bioactive nutrient from the group of branched short-chain fatty acids, considered by some sources a vitamin-like factor. It is found naturally in small amounts in food and is also produced by the human body from the branched-chain amino acid leucine.

Numerous studies show that adding HMB to the diet can help develop lean body mass thanks to its positive influence on the storage of muscle proteins and the reduction of fat tissue.
